frosty morning

texting this morning with my grad school buddy (instead of doing project work. yes, yes, yes, i know)

my school buddy, c.: it's snowy out.

moi: it's hoar frost! i love hoar frost! i also like saying hoar frost because it makes people go "huh? whore frost? wha?"

m.s.b.c.: me too, except for scraping the hoars off my car.

The best thing about winter is the variety of hoars. For example, air hoar, surface hoar, and my personal favourite, crevasse hoar.

I still do love the look of it. But I'm becoming a wimp when it comes to the cold. It's got nothing to do with snottiness, and all to do with comfort. It's really nice not to have to deal with any of the inconveniences of winter and still be able to enjoy the nice parts (like the panoramic view of the snow-topped mountains around Vancouver and skiing on the weekend). Winter is beautiful and has many wonderful aspects. But there is such thing as too much of a good thing.
